Lucila

Loan description:

Lucila Jose is 44 years old and married with three children aged 24, 16 and 8 respectively. Her two younger children are still studying in school while the eldest is working in a call centre. Her husband, Joselito, works in a shop that repairs watches. Lucila lives in the town of Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija province. Lucila has run her own business for the last seven years. She sells frozen meat and other foods to neighbours and others in her local community. She buys in bulk from a wholesale food supplier. The meat tends to be packaged in quarter, half and one kilo bundles for the convenience of customers. Lucila visits customers offering her products. She gives discounts to regular customers and those buying a lot. She lives about 12 kilometres from the town centre and other shops so people are attracted by her service. Lucila sought a six month loan from the microfinance organisation, Alalay sa Kaunlaran, to use as working capital helping her to buy more stock as and when necessary.
