Loan description:
Roselyn Brillante is a 39 year old wife and mother of 3 children, aged 14, 11 and 9 years old. All of her children attend a local school in Tajao, which is in the town of Pinamungaujan in Cebu province. Her husband Guillermo is 39 years old and works as a lineman in a private electric company. Roselyn supplements the daily income of the family through a small grocery store business that she established 8 years ago using the previous earnings of her husband. It now offers a wide variety of merchandise, in particular instant noodles, canned goods, condiments, snacks and drinks. The store was named was after her youngest child and is known as “Kerr John Store”. Inside the grocery store are consumable items placed on wooden shelves attached to the wall and also are hanged using small nets. Roselyn also provided a refrigerator outside the business where people can freely choose their desired drinks or sodas before paying her. This is a good strategy especially during the summer season when people always find refreshing ways to relieve their thirst. She has been an active member of the microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative for 5 years and has been able to complete 2 cycles of loans. She is now seeking a new loan in order to increase the volume of merchandise she can buy and sell to the community. She wants to expand her stocks of canned goods, drinks and snacks to increase her sales. She plans to save her income for the studies of her 3 young children until they finish college education. Roselyn dreams of having a wider and more spacious convenience store someday. She plans to repay the loan over a period of three months.
