Bosnia-Herzegovina
Loan description:
Cerima Spahic is 61 years old and married. She lives with her husband in a place called Spahici in the city of Zenica. When the Bosnian War finished Cerima and her husband couldn’t keep working because their company was disintegrating. They had to find another way to create the income they needed to live on so they decided to start a business raising livestock and farming. They have two cows and produce milk and homemade cheese, which they sell to regular customers. They also have a smallholding where they grow vegetables such as potatoes, onions, garlic, beans and corn. They use some of this for their own needs and sell the rest of it at the food market in the city. They are very pleased and satisfied because they are able to work, bring in income and live a normal life. Cerima received two loans from the microcredit foundation Women for Women International and applied for another one. She needs a loan in order to purchase another heifer.
