Dzemka Jusufovic is 29 years old and married. She lives in Srebrenica. Dzemka and her husband Damir have two small children and decided to start their new life in Srebrenica where they were born. At the beginning it was hard but they were determined to overcome every barrier and to succeed. They couldn’t find a proper job so they decided to start their own business, raising livestock. Today they have their own farm with 16 cows, 10 cattle and one heifer. They sell all the milk they produce to a local dairy that they have an agreement with and their meat to a local butcher store. They managed to develop a business at the highest level and they are very pleased with it. Dzemka is going to expand the business further by growing potatoes, onions, wheat and raspberries. She applied for her first loan from the microcredit foundation Women for Women International. She will use the loan to prepare soil for sowing and buy more seeds. Dzemka and her husband are very happy because they started their own business and they can provide a better life for their children and themselves.
