Loan description:
Orfa Pacheco is 36 and is married with three children, one boy and two daughters - one of her daughters, Ximena, has severe cerebral palsy. Orfa has been accessing credit through FACES for the last ten years. She raises chickens. Not only has the business supported her and her family but is has generated enough to buy medicine for her daughter and also pay for continuing rehabilitation therapy which she should receive for the rest of her life. Orfa's other daughter attends school in the town. Her husband has a smallholding, but the income he generates is insufficient to cover all their household expenditure, so her income is a valuable addition. Occasionally, Orfa works as a day labourer when neighbouring farmers require labour at harvest time. but this is increasingly difficult as XImena requires constant care at home. Orfa has plans to start a small general convenience store from home so that she can combine looking after her daughter with earning an income. She has sought a six month loan in order to buy more chickens and feed.
