Amount requested:

£1,142.86

Repayment term:

12 months

Activity type:

Farming

Partner:

ACFB

Loan description:

At the age of 51, Justine is married and a mother to three children, who are all pupils at secondary school. Justine previously ran a restaurant but was forced to bring this to an end due to catering issues. For six years now, she has practiced the raising of livestock from her own household. To ensure that this business is well managed, she makes use of an enclosure within which to raise the animals and employs somebody to keep them fed and looked after. She raises, for example, chickens and ducks. In order to attract her customers she sells them at a price that is very affordable in comparison to her competitors. She sources the animals sometimes from the market at Adja and sometimes from the one at Akpakpa. Her customer base is comprised of restaurant owners when there are festive occasions, households and those hosting celebration ceremonies. Justine has already benefitted from several loans from the microfinance organisation ACFB; she has always been a credible client. At present she is seeking a loan for 800,000 West African francs so that she can purchase a cow to raise for a long period of sales. The ensuing profits from this would help firstly to complete the construction of her own shop and secondly to launch a trade from this shop selling food and in particular oil to customers in the village.
