Loan description:

At 49 years old, Kokoh is a mother to four children. The eldest is 23 years old whilst the youngest is only nine. All of her children have had full access to education. Kokoh lives with her husband in the neighbourhood of Kokomba in the town of Atakpamé. Her husband is a retailer. It is on the market at Anié where Kokoh’s professional activity is focused - it is here that she has a shop from which she runs her trade in grains. She chiefly sells corn in sacks – in the northern region of the country. Three people help Kokoh to run her business. This will be her first experience of a loan with the microfinance organisation WAGES. She has a very moderate understanding of risk and is seeking a loan of 900,000 West African francs for twelve months. This will allow her to develop her business further and to become a wholesaler rather than simply a small retailer. More specifically, Kokoh will use her loan to expand her stock through the purchase of sacks of maize for 500,000 West African francs and sacks of beans for 400,000 West African francs. Her ambition in the short term is to open a second market stall to expand her business. Prosperity and wellbeing are the future hopes that Kokoh has for her household.
