Bosnia-Herzegovina
Loan description:
Jasminka Aljovic is 45 years old and married. She lives in the capital Sarajevo. She has two children: a son and a daughter who both go to secondary school. Her husband is a pensioner but his pension wasn’t enough to meet their living and household expenes as well as for the schooling of their children. Jasminka therefore started a business selling footwear. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago she had a stroke and was almost paralysed. Yet she didn’t give up but fought and got better. Today her business is very well developed. She owns a stall in the local clothing market in Merkur where she sells all kinds of footwear. She has a regular customer base but is also attracting new ones. She has received two loans from the microcredit foundation Women for Women International and has applied for another. She needs this loan to expand her stock because she wants to buy a new line of footwear for the spring season. She is a very modest and honest person, a fighter and a hardworker. She is very pleased and satisfied because she can provide a better life for her children. She says ‘’everyday I’m grateful to God because I got better and I can work and contribute to an income for my family’’.
