Loan description:
Saroun Rith is 55 years old and married with eight children. Her children are aged between 22 and 40 years old and seven of them have their own jobs and only her youngest child is still studying. Saroun and her family live in Rohal Soung village, which is in Ek Phnom district, Battambang province. Saroun and her husband, Chorm Moeurn, are farmers and farm one and a half hectares of rice paddy. The yield provides them with about two and a half tonnes per hectare and two tonnes of this they keep for their basic needs. After cultivating the rice, they also grow green beans, cucumbers and watermelons and after three months they can pick these products to sell at the market. As their working capital is limited, Saroun has borrowed some money to buy diesel for their water pump and hand tractor and to buy insecticide to help with the growing of their watermelons and cucumbers. Saroun will repay the loan over six months.
