Loan description:
Virgilio Mangaong is 38 years old and married with a baby daughter who is just seven months old. His wife Aludia is 35. He lives with his family in the neighbourhood of Tajao in the town of Pinamungajan in Cebu province. Virgilio raises livestock, primarily goats and geese. They are housed in an open area of land which is surrounded by wooden fences. Virgilio sells milk from the goats and eggs from the geese on a regular basis to vendors in the local market. Occasionally he sells the animals for their meat as well. He has had this business for about nine years. He has also established a small local convenience or 'sari-sari' store. Virgilio has been a member of the microfinance organisation Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative for about one year. He has already repaid two short term loans. He applied for a third loan in order to make improvements to the area where his animals are kept. A part of the loan is to purchase more stock for his shop. He will save the income from the business in his savings account with Lamac. Virgilio intends to repay the loan over a short period of just three months.
