Kimly Prom is 26 years old and married with one daughter who is aged two. She lives in Kropue Chueng village in Banon district in Battambang province. Kimly has been a primary school teacher for three years. Her husband, Limhoeurn Touch who is 27, has worked as a farmer for the same period of time. They farm eight hectares of rice paddy located around three kilometres from their home. The yield on average is around three tonnes per hectare. They can plant twice a year and sell their crops directly to whichever merchant offers them the highest price. Kimly applied for a loan in order to buy fertiliser and diesel for their hand tractor and water pump. Kimly intends to repay the loan over six months. Kimly wants also to one day manage a general store from her home.
